On the shores of the White Nile and isolated from the rest of the world, the Mundari people continue to maintain their peculiar way of life, dedicated entirely to the care of their precious Watusi, a spectacular cattle breed  that prides itself on having one of the biggest antlers of the animal world, which is why they are also known as "The Cattle of Kings". The endless conflict that devastate South Sudan and the resistance to change of these people make them keep alive the cult of a creator god known as Ngun, Being his cows a kind of medium to reach him, so they pamper and protect as if they were members of their own family. They are actually more than that: their livelihood, their social status and their dowry to form a family depends on them. The Mundari universe revolves around its animals in a perfect symbiosis, almost mystical, with a degree of unusual intimacy in the human race, reaching and stimulating them sexually to increase their milk production

 

 This wandering life, always in search of pastures in a singular and isolated environment has kept the Mundari oblivious to the bloody and endless war that bleeds this corner of the world. External influences have not yet been able to subdue this proud people of nomadic shepherds, though the pressure is strong and the future uncertain, in a globalized world that glands at the plentiful waters of the White Nile, key to the subsistence of this fragile Ecosystem.

A orillas del Nilo Blanco y aislado del resto del mundo, el pueblo Mundari continúa manteniendo su peculiar forma de vida, dedicado por entero al cuidado de sus preciosas Ankole-Watusi, una espectacular raza bobina que se precia de poseer una de las mayores cornamentas del mundo animal, motivo por el que también se las conoce como “The cattle of kings”. El interminable conflicto que asola Sudán del Sur y la resistencia al cambio de estas gentes hacen que mantengan vivo el culto a un Dios creador llamado Ngun, siendo sus vacas una especie de médium para llegar a él, por lo que las miman y protegen como si de miembros de su propia familia se tratara. En realidad son más que eso: de ellas depende su sustento, su estatus social, su dote para formar una familia. El universo Mundari gira en torno a sus animales en una simbiosis perfecta, casi mística, con un grado de intimidad insólito en la raza humana, llegando e estimularlas sexualmente para incrementar su producción de leche.

Esta vida errante, siempre en busca de pastos en un entorno singular y aislado ha mantenido a los Mundari ajenos a la sangrienta e interminable guerra que desangra este rincón del mundo. Las influencias externas aún no han podido doblegar a este pueblo orgulloso de pastores nómadas, aunque la presión es férrea y el futuro incierto, en un mundo globalizado que dirige su mirada a las caudalosas aguas del Nilo Blanco, clave para la subsistencia de este frágil ecosistema.
